Actor Robert Patrick recently took to social media to share some throwback photos from his time on [i]The X-Files[/i], and for longtime fans, it was a welcome trip down memory lane. The images, which included behind-the-scenes moments and promotional shots from Season 9, reminded many why his character, FBI Special Agent John Doggett, deserves another chance in the spotlight. [h2]Robert Patrick’s Love for The X-Files Shines Through[/h2] Patrick’s Instagram post offered fans a rare glimpse into his experience on the iconic sci-fi series. The snapshots capture a time when appointment television was a necessity, and recording episodes on VHS was the only way to keep up. But what stands out most is Patrick’s own affection for the role, as he has openly stated that playing John Doggett remains his favorite career moment. For those who first encountered him as the terrifying T-1000 in [i]Terminator 2: Judgment Day[/i], seeing him step into [i]The X-Files[/i] as Mulder’s replacement was a revelation. His portrayal of Doggett brought a fresh dynamic to the series, cementing his place in sci-fi history. Yet, despite his impact, one major issue with [i]The X-Files[/i] revival remains unresolved. [h2]The Revival’s Biggest Oversight: No John Doggett[/h2] When David Duchovny famously departed [i]The X-Files[/i] after Season 7 (initially partially and then fully from Season 9), Robert Patrick took on the daunting task of leading the show alongside Gillian Anderson. By Season 9, he was joined by Annabeth Gish as Monica Reyes, forming a new investigative duo. But when the series was revived in 2016, Doggett was nowhere to be found. The absence wasn’t due to lack of interest—Patrick was simply unavailable because of his role on [i]Scorpion[/i]. Series creator Chris Carter even wrote Doggett into a Season 11 episode but had to scrap the idea when scheduling conflicts arose. Ultimately, while Reyes made a brief return, Doggett remained sidelined. [h2]A Revival That Could Have Been (And Still Should Be)[/h2] Looking back, [i]The X-Files[/i] revival missed a crucial opportunity. Instead of solely focusing on Mulder and Scully, bringing Doggett back would have provided an intriguing continuation of the original series' final seasons. Now, with Ryan Coogler reportedly working on an [i]X-Files[/i] reboot, the chance for Doggett’s return still exists. Imagine a [i]Halloween[/i] (2018)-style revival where Doggett and Reyes reunite to tackle unfinished business. It’s a compelling idea—one that would honor the legacy of [i]The X-Files[/i] while embracing the next chapter. Given Robert Patrick’s clear appreciation for his time on the show, perhaps there’s still hope for a proper sendoff. So I suppose we are talking about the episode Nothing Lasts Forever. It clearly had some gruesome images, but I don't even recall if I liked the episode or not. I would have to rewatch it once again.

I revisit this topic from the future, six years later. - That Einstein and Miller both die a painful death. -> Einstein and Miller are still there and they still suck big time. Awful awful characters. The actors had absolutely no chance with such awful scripts. - That John Doggett comes back as a major second character. -> And obviously he didn't. I still don't get why we didn't get the chance to meet Robert Patrick once again. It would have been absolutely great, I am 100% sure of it. - That we get a sequel of one of our beloved loners from the first seven seasons. -> Nope, that didn't happen. But the loners were mostly great, so no complaints there. - That Chris Carter doesn't write any funny sequence. -> He didn't, even if his scripts are laughable now, but that's another matter. - That the scripts let Duchovny and Anderson take the time to play their characters the same way as in the first season (slowly and beautifully). -> Well... they played fine. - That Mark Snow uses again his piano. -> I don't even remember the music from seasons 10 and 11. So probably he didn't, but I bought both scores and will spend more time listening to these. - That the writers take big risks and try to go above and beyond what's asked of them (monster of the week). -> I had a blast with some loners, such as The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat and Familiar. - That Skinner is in most episodes. -> I don't even remember.

I have yet to listen to it. I don't even know where to find it. I will definitely add it on my list and I'm wondering if we should add these onto the site. A live audio drama... I guess this would go into the books section anyway? I do not really see the point of adding a dedicated section just for this. Unless you guys think otherwise.
