ARCHER: Previously, on Enterprise.

T'POL [Conference room]: A parallel universe.
ARCHER: According to some theories, everything that exists in our universe should also exist there.
HOSHI: Another Terran Empire, another Starfleet?
T'POL [Ready room]: I am not a slave.
ARCHER: You're Vulcan. Never forget that.
HOSHI [Archer's quarters]: (in bed with Archer) The things a girl will give up for her career.
ARCHER [Conference room]: This ship is not only from another universe, it's from another time. About a hundred years into the future. Imagine the technology we can find on that ship. Ours for the taking.
T'POL [USS Defiant - Bridge]: Enterprise is under attack.
HOSHI [Bridge]: The Tholians can see us!
FORREST: This is the Captain. All hands to escape pods. Abandon ship!
[USS Defiant - Bridge]

(Enterprise has just been destroyed by the Tholians.)
ARCHER: Commander!
TUCKER: You've got thrusters.
ARCHER: Release the docking clamps.
T'POL: I can't.
ARCHER: What about weapons?
TUCKER: This power grid's a mess! It's going to take a few minutes.
REED: Sir, the shields are functional.
ARCHER: Raise them.
REED: Our shields are weakening the clamps, but they're still holding.
ARCHER: I'll alternate port and starboard thrusters. That should shake them loose.
T'POL: We're free.
ARCHER: Firing aft thrusters.
T'POL: Six Tholian ships moving toward us.
ARCHER: How much longer for weapons?
TUCKER: The power couplings have been removed. I don't know if I can bypass them.
TRAVIS: Sir.
(Archer turns to the viewscreen, to see another Web being constructed.)
ARCHER: Mister Tucker.
TUCKER: Stand by. I could use some help over here. (T'Pol runs over) When I tell you, shunt the plasma to the forward emitters.
REED: Three more ships approaching.
TUCKER: Just a few more seconds!
(There's a jolt.)
ARCHER: What was that?
REED: They've locked on a tractor beam. We're being pulled back into the dock.
ARCHER: It's now or never!
TUCKER: Stand by! Now.
T'POL: Tactical systems are online.
(Reed fires phasers to destroy the tractor emitter, then blows up three of the Tholian ships, wrecking the web.)
ARCHER: Full thrusters.
REED: The remaining ships are retreating.
T'POL: The station's opened fire.
ARCHER: Does this thing have aft torpedoes?
TUCKER: You better believe it. They're armed.
(A salvo destroys the station.)
REED: Escape pods. Twelve kilometres off the port bow. They're ours.
ARCHER: Bring them onboard.

[Briefing room]

ARCHER: We need warp drive.
TUCKER: Engineering's been stripped to the bulkheads. But the good news is, most of what they took was still sitting in my hangar deck. But I need time to figure out how to put it all back together.
T'POL: How much time?
TUCKER: Two or three days. Sir, I'm not even sure what some of these systems are supposed to do. It's like I'm Chief Engineer on a steamship coming aboard the first interplanetary transport.
ARCHER: If we don't have warp capability in twelve hours, I'm going to find a new Chief Engineer.
T'POL: I suggest we make use of the alien workers. They may know something about these systems.
ARCHER: Keep them under close surveillance. Once warp drive is restored, we'll set a course to rendezvous with the assault fleet.
T'POL: We're in no condition for battle.
REED: We made quick work of the Tholians.
T'POL: This ship is designed to be operated by a crew of four hundred. There are only forty seven of us. The logical course of action is to take Defiant to Earth, allow Starfleet to study it, reverse-engineer its systems.
ARCHER: There's no time! The Empire could lose this war in a matter weeks if we don't get the Defiant and its weapons to the front lines. Dismissed! Commander. (grabs T'Pol's arm) Not you.
(The rest of the senior staff leave, and Archer takes Travis' weapon.)
ARCHER: I should shoot you for betraying me.
T'POL: The orders giving you command of Enterprise were obviously fabricated. It was my duty as a Starfleet officer to help Captain Forrest regain control of his ship.
ARCHER: You swore your loyalty to me.
T'POL: You should be aware Captain Forrest ordered me to kill you.
ARCHER: Why are you telling me this?
T'POL: Forrest is dead. His orders are no longer valid. You are my commanding officer.
ARCHER: I never had a problem with your people until they became a part of this rebellion. If I had another officer capable of doing your job, I'd show you to the nearest airlock. I need you to get this ship up and running. But if I hear so much as a rumour that you're working behind my back
T'POL: Understood.
ARCHER: Get out.

[Captain's quarters]

HOSHI: What are you wearing?
(Archer is in a green top with gold braid.)
ARCHER: I found it in the Captain's wardrobe.
HOSHI: These people had some strange ideas about uniforms.
ARCHER: I can't find a mention of it anywhere.
HOSHI: A mention of what?
ARCHER: The Empire. As far as I can tell, it doesn't exist in the other universe.
HOSHI: No Empire?
ARCHER: A lot of the names are the same, but their history has been rewritten. Instead of building an empire, Earth became part of an interspecies alliance.
HOSHI: (reading the desk monitor) The United Federation of Planets?
ARCHER: More like a Federation of Fools.
HOSHI: What about us? Do we exist in this universe?
ARCHER: Computer, access biographical file, Starfleet Officer Hoshi Sato.
COMPUTER: Working.
(Everyone say Hi! to Majel Barrett Roddenberry's voice, in its only appearance in this series.)
ARCHER: (reading) Hoshi Sato. Comm. Officer on Starfleet's first warp five ship. In her late thirties, she created the linguacode translation matrix.
HOSHI: At least she was remembered for something.
ARCHER: I can tell you who she married. It even says how you died.
HOSHI: Stop. I don't want to know.
ARCHER: But this isn't you.
HOSHI: I don't care. Computer. Display file on Starfleet Officer Jonathan Archer.
COMPUTER: Working.
HOSHI: Son of famed warp specialist Henry Archer, Jonathan was appointed Captain of Starfleet's first warp five ship. His name is among the most recognised in the Federation. He earned an impressive list of commendations during his career. Historians called him the greatest explorer of the twenty second century. Two planets were named after him.
(Archer switches it off with his fist.)
HOSHI: Hey.
ARCHER: There's nothing great about that man. He sold out Earth's future to a group of subhuman species. Great men are not peacemakers. Great men are conquerors.
HOSHI: Forget about him. Your future is just beginning. Can you imagine the look on the Emperor's face when he sees this ship? You'll be declared Hero of the Empire. Starfleet'll have to give you a command of your own.
ARCHER: I already have a command of my own.

[Jefferies tube]

TUCKER: (in Engineering red) What's the problem?
KELBY: Commander. Somebody pulled both plasma regulators out of these housings.
TUCKER: Why are you bothering me with this? They're probably on the hangar deck.
KELBY: No, sir, you don't understand. They were here ten minutes ago. I went to get this coupler. When I came back, the regulators were gone.
TUCKER: You'd better find them, because if this junction's not on line in ten minutes, I'm going to tell Archer you're the reason we don't have warp drive.
KELBY: Yes. Yes, sir.
(There's a strange noise, so Kelby climbs up into a junction to investigate.)
KELBY: Who's in here?
(He finds one of the regulators on the floor, picks it up, then we see him being dragged upwards. Screaming.)

[Bridge]

(All except Phlox are now in TOS era uniforms. Yes, T'Pol is in a blue mini-skort, and I did spell that correctly. It is a combination mini-skirt and hot pants, for modesty.)
PHLOX: I found traces of reptilian saliva in the Ensign's wounds.
ARCHER: Something bit him?
PHLOX: The bite radius would suggest a particularly large reptile, more than two metres in length.
ARCHER: Can you find this thing on internal sensors?
T'POL: It's not in the primary hull. Sensors are still offline on the Engineering decks.
REED: Perhaps it was a pet owned by one of the original crew.
PHLOX: Unless one of them owned a velociraptor, I find it extremely unlikely.
TUCKER: (entering) There's no sign of the regulators. Without them, we can't initialise the reaction chamber. We're stuck at impulse.
T'POL: Whoever sabotaged us knew exactly which components to steal.
ARCHER: The slaves we captured, bring one of them to the Briefing Room.
REED: Certainly, sir.

[Briefing room]

(Travis is interrogating an unfamiliar blue-skinned alien with his fists.)
ARCHER: What attacked my crewman?
ALIEN: He promised he'd kill us if we told you.
ARCHER: I'll kill you now if you don't.
ALIEN: Please!
ARCHER: Stand aside.
(He draws his phaser.)
T'POL: T'Pol to Major Reed. Bring another prisoner to the Briefing Room.
REED [OC]: Acknowledged.
ARCHER: From what I'm told, the maximum setting can actually disintegrate a person. I've been looking forward to trying it.
ALIEN: His name is Slar.
ARCHER: Who's name?
ALIEN: Our slave master. He was in charge of the salvage operation. When you boarded the ship, he hid in the service crawlways. He was planning to sabotage the ship.
ARCHER: Where in the crawlways?
ALIEN: Possibly near the power transfer conduits on deck twenty two. It's warm there. His species likes it warm.
ARCHER: What species?
ALIEN: Gorn. He's he's a Gorn.

[Bridge]

(A schematic of Defiant is up on the viewscreen.)
REED: We had it cornered in turboshaft three but it appears to have escaped through this access tube. That's when we lost contact with McKenzie and Browne.
ARCHER: (not the real one, his subconscious) They're taking too long. When my ship was in jeopardy, I didn't let Security handle the situation. I took care of it myself.
ARCHER: (the real one) I'd have better luck sending a squad of Tellarites to capture this thing. Put an assault team together. I'll lead it myself.
HOSHI: (not in TOS-era uniform) Sir, I'm picking up a signal from inside the ship. I think it's the reptile.
ARCHER: Can you pinpoint its location?
HOSHI: The frequency's scrambled.
ARCHER: I want to talk to it.
HOSHI: The translator matrix is tied in.
ARCHER: This is Captain Archer. Return our plasma regulators now.
SLAR [OC]: I want to leave this ship.
ARCHER: Give me what I want, and we'll talk.
SLAR [OC]: No. I'm familiar with your species. Humans are not trustworthy.

[Access tube]

(A CGI dinosaur-style Gorn, not a man in a rubber suit.)
SLAR: You will give me a shuttlecraft. Once I'm away from this ship

[Bridge]

SLAR [OC]: I'll tell you where to find the regulators.
ARCHER: This is not a negotiation! The regulators, now! If you don't comply, I'll give the order
HOSHI: He closed the channel.
ARCHER: Major, get the team together. Your best men.
T'POL: The Gorn's offer is reasonable.
ARCHER: He has no intention of returning the regulators. If we give him a shuttle, he'll contact his people and come back here with a warship. Without warp drive, we'll be an easy target.

[Turbolift]

ARCHER: (his subconscious whispers in his ear) Defeat this Gorn and you'll finally earn the respect you deserve.

[Access tube]

REED: There's a biosign, very faint, in access tube seven alpha near junction three.
ARCHER: I'll seal off the bulkhead here. That'll leave him with only one escape route. Flush him out, drive him into this junction. I'll be waiting for him.
REED: Understood.
(Reed and two MACO head one way, Archer and the other MACO another. Reed thinks he's found his prey, but Slar has just left his communicator open on the floor.)
REED: Reed to Captain Archer.
ARCHER [OC]: Go ahead.
REED: It's not here.
REED [OC]: He's modified a communicator to emit a false biosign.
ARCHER: Meet us in Junction Three.
REED [OC]: Acknowledged.
REED: Shut that bloody thing off.
(The MACO does so, and Reed spots a bunch of red flashing lights on the ceiling. As the bomb goes off -)
REED: It's a trap!
(Archer and his escort arrive at the bloody and burning scene.)
REED: (before passing out) I've failed you, Captain.
ARCHER: Archer to T'Pol. Where is it?
T'POL [OC]: The Gorn's moved into the primary hull.

[Bridge]

T'POL: It's on Deck Nine.

[Access tube]

ARCHER: We're going to Plan B. Access the environmental controls on that deck. Wait for my signal.

[Bridge]

T'POL: Acknowledged.

[Deck 9]

(Slar watches as Archer makes his way along the corridor, stepping over bodies. Then he drops on him and they fight. Archer is injured, and the MACO hits Slar over the head with his weapon until the Gorn comes after him instead.)
ARCHER: Archer to T'Pol. Section four A, on my mark.
T'POL [OC]: Standing by.
ARCHER: Now!

[Bridge]

T'POL: Enhancing grav-plating.

[Deck 9]

(Slar is dragged to the floor.)
T'POL [OC]: Grav-plating's at twenty G's.
(Two more MACO turn up.)
ARCHER: Give me your weapon.
(He fires at Slar six times, to make sure.)

Defiant Starlog, January 18, 2155. We've recovered the missing engine components and I've ordered a course to rendezvous with the assault fleet.

[Recreation room]

(Complete with 3D chess set.)
T'POL: What's Major Reed's condition?
PHLOX: At this point, he could go either way. No doubt there'll be several discreet celebrations if he should expire.
T'POL: I notice you've been making extensive use of the library database.
PHLOX: I was merely researching classical literature. I wanted to compare our major works with their counterparts in the other universe. I skimmed a few of the more celebrated narratives. The stories were similar in some respects, but their characters were weak and compassionate. With the exception of Shakespeare, of course. From what I could tell, his plays were equally grim in both universes.
T'POL: Examine their historical files. You may want to learn more about their Federation. Did you know in the other universe, humans and Denobulans are considered equals? As are Vulcans. You don't find this interesting.
PHLOX: I find it dangerous. If I were the Captain, I'd restrict access to that database. I'm certain he wouldn't want to give his crew any ideas.
T'POL: Perhaps you should reconsider the repercussions
(Alarm sounds.)
ARCHER [OC]: This is the Captain. All hands to battle stations.

[ISS Avenger - Bridge]

(Rebel ships are firing on an Empire ship. They are taking casualties.)
BLACK: Report!
SOVAL: (with goatee beard) Hull breach on B deck. Emergency bulkheads are engaged.
BLACK: Concentrate your fire on the Andorians.
SOVAL: Hull plating's at thirty two percent. Admiral, there's another vessel approaching.
BLACK: More rebels?
SOVAL: No.

[Bridge]

(Defiant blows the rebels to pieces.)
TRAVIS: Direct hits.
HOSHI: The Tellarite ship's opened fire. No damage.
ARCHER: Lock on their reactor. Fire when ready.
TRAVIS: Target destroyed.
HOSHI: The Vulcan ship's trying to escape.
ARCHER: Pursuit course.
T'POL: Captain, they're no threat to us. I recommend we
ARCHER: Fire when ready.
(Four or five torpedoes dispose of the elegant curved ship.)
HOSHI: The last Andorian ship is retreating.
TRAVIS: Weapons are locked.
ARCHER: No. Let them go. I want the other rebels to know what happened here. Get me Admiral Black.
BLACK [on viewscreen]: Archer?
ARCHER: Sorry we're late for the party, Admiral.
BLACK [on viewscreen]: Where's Enterprise? Is Captain Forrest with you?
ARCHER: It's going to take some time to explain, sir. Perhaps you'd like to see the Defiant for yourself.

[Briefing room]

BLACK: A most impressive vessel, Commander. With the technology on this ship at our disposal, the rebels won't stand a chance.
ARCHER: Glad you agree, sir.
BLACK: I intend to recommend that you get your own command at the earliest opportunity.
ARCHER: Respectfully, sir, you have the authority to grant a battlefield promotion.
BLACK: Unfortunately, we don't have a ship to give you at the moment.
ARCHER: The Defiant.
BLACK: I'm sure the Fleet Admiral has other plans for this ship
ARCHER: (his subconscious again) They're never going to give you this ship, you know that. They'll tear it apart, try to learn its secrets. If you're lucky, you'll end up commanding a moon shuttle. Don't you see what the Admiral's planning? He's going to present this ship to the Emperor himself. He'll take all the credit, and you'll end up a historical footnote.
BLACK: (mostly under the above speech) Once we reach Earth, we'll disassemble its tactical systems. Our experts will want to examine (inaudible) With any luck, we should be able to replicate the phase cannons and upgrade (something) The rebels won't know what hit them. What you've accomplished could alter the course of the war. The people of the Earth are in your debt, Commander.
ARCHER: That's Captain. You're relieved, Admiral.
(Travis takes out Black's bodyguard, and Archer phasers the Admiral out of existence.)

[ISS Avenger - Shuttlebay]

(The two crews are assembled for a speech from their new Captain.)
ARCHER: Our entire assault fleet wiped out by a rebel attack. Thousands of your fellow Starfleet officers dead. If the Defiant hadn't arrived when it did, all of you would be among them. And who are we to blame for this? Not the brave men and women who gave their lives for the Empire. The criminals who are losing this war are sitting in their comfortable offices back at Starfleet Command. Their weakness invited our enemies to strike, and their corruption and arrogance have brought the Empire to the brink of defeat! I've been a soldier all my life, and I will not stand by and let these people destroy an empire that has endured for centuries! I ask you, all of you to join me. We cannot put down this rebellion so long as our forces are commanded by dishonourable men. Before we can defeat the rebels, we must defeat them. That ship out there is the key to our victory. With the Defiant on our side, there will be nothing to stop us. [Deleted scene]
ARCHER With your help, I will return to Earth and restore the Empire to its former glory. Let us advance where the omens of the gods and the crimes of our enemies summon us! The die is now cast! Long live the Empire!
ALL: Long live the Empire! (round of applause)
ARCHER: (to Travis before leaving) Shoot the first one who stops applauding.

[Soval's quarters]

SOVAL: Enter.
(T'Pol enters, and raises her hand in the traditional Vulcan greeting.)
SOVAL: It's not wise to make that gesture, even behind closed doors. It is agreeable to see you again.
T'POL: Did you review the historical files?
SOVAL: The implications are intriguing.
T'POL: Intriguing?
SOVAL: This alternate universe is very different from ours. I'm not certain a Federation could ever exist here.
T'POL: I thought you were an idealist.
SOVAL: That was many years ago.
T'POL: We have to take action. Archer intends to overthrow Starfleet and the Emperor.
SOVAL; Archer is right. The Empire has become corrupt. A new leader may change things for the better.
T'POL: Not for our people. The weapons on that ship will annihilate the rebels, including thousands of Vulcans. We can give them an advantage.
SOVAL: How?
T'POL: I can download the data on Defiant's engines and tactical systems. We'll give it to them.
SOVAL: Data will be of little value. Archer still controls that ship.
T'POL: I'm going to destroy that ship.
SOVAL: What?
T'POL: I can disable Defiant's power systems, but I'll need your help. Do you want to spend the rest of your life serving the Empire?
SOVAL: I'm too old to become a revolutionary.
T'POL: I know Archer. He blames our people for inciting the rebels. If he becomes Emperor, he'll lay waste to Vulcan. I can't do this without you.

[USS Defiant - Captain's quarters]

(Night. Archer is sitting on the end of the bed when Hoshi wakes, and starts caressing and kissing him.)
ARCHER: My senior officers don't think I can do this.
HOSHI: They'll come around.
ARCHER: T'Pol doesn't approve, either. I can see it in her eyes.
HOSHI: Maybe it's time to get rid of her, now that this ship's operational.
ARCHER: Not just her. We'll get rid of all the non-Terrans. I'll transfer them off Defiant.
HOSHI: All of them?
ARCHER: The rebels have spies everywhere. I can't afford to have a single alien aboard my flagship.
HOSHI: I hope you're not planning on getting sick anytime soon. In case you haven't noticed, your doctor is an alien.
ARCHER: I've got nothing against Phlox. His people aren't rebels. It's not in their nature. He can stay.
HOSHI: I've never been the consort of an Emperor before. Is there anything I need to know?
ARCHER: I think you, I think you've got the basics down.

[Bridge]

(T'Pol is copying files when Archer comes on deck.)
ARCHER: Put me through to Fleet Admiral Gardner. Corporal. Escort Commander T'Pol to Transporter Room Two. Your service aboard this ship is no longer required.
(Travis removes her dagger and phaser.)
GARDNER [on viewscreen]: Archer. What the hell is going on?
ARCHER: I take it you received my message.
GARDNER [on viewscreen]: You demanded Starfleet's unconditional surrender! Have you lost your mind?
ARCHER: You've seen the specs on the Defiant. You know what its weapons can do.
GARDNER [on viewscreen]: I want to speak with Admiral Black.
ARCHER: He's not available right now. I suggest you order your forces to stand down. Starfleet can't afford to lose any more ships.
GARDNER [on viewscreen]: This is your only warning, Commander. Do not approach Earth or you will be fired upon!

[Corridor]

CREWWOMAN [OC]: Bridge to Doctor Phlox.
PHLOX: This is Phlox.
CREWWOMAN [OC]: There's a medical emergency on the Avenger. You're needed immediately.
PHLOX: Acknowledged.

[ISS Avenger - Corridor]

(Phlox meets Soval and T'Pol.)
PHLOX: Neither of you appears to be injured.

[ISS Avenger - Shuttlebay]

PHLOX; Sabotage the Defiant? Have you lost your senses?
SOVAL: You're the only non-Terran on the Defiant. Any of us would arouse suspicion.
T'POL: You heard Archer's speech. He's delusional.
PHLOX: It's not a delusion if the Captain has the power to do what he says. And from what I've seen, he most certainly does. I should report you both.
SOVAL: Are you loyal to the Empire or not?
PHLOX: Of course I am!
T'POL: Archer plans to kill the Emperor and take his place.
PHLOX: The Captain has proven himself in battle. Perhaps he should rule the Empire.
SOVAL: If Archer fails, his crew will have to answer for his crimes.
T'POL: We'll be executed. There's an old tradition. If someone saves the Emperor's life, it's said there's no request he can refuse them. Consider the possibilities. A medical facility of your own with unlimited resources. You could conduct experiments as you see fit.
SOVAL: Don't forget the females.
PHLOX: Females?
SOVAL: You'll be able to choose as many concubines as you'd like.
PHLOX: If the Emperor were my patient, I'd be obligated to save his life. I suppose what you're suggesting isn't that different.

[ISS Avenger - Corridor]

(T'Pol calls for a turbolift, the door opens and she is confronted by Hoshi and a MACO pointing guns at her.)
T'POL: What's this?
HOSHI: Save it, Commander. The schematics you downloaded. Where are they?
T'POL: Schematics?
(The MACO disarms her.)
HOSHI: Let's go.
(T'Pol knocks down the MACO, but gets cut by Hoshi.)
HOSHI: I was hoping you'd put up a fight.
T'POL: I'm surprised you're not exhausted from all the beds you've jumped into recently.
HOSHI: Commander Tucker told me I should give you a few pointers in that area.
(T'Pol knocks her down and makes her escape, but the MACO recovers enough to shoot her in the back.)
HOSHI: Bring her.

[USS Defiant]

(Phlox makes his way up a Jefferies tube.)

[ISS Avenger - Bridge]

(An Andorian hauls a dead human out of the helm chair.)
SOVAL: Shut down the turbolifts. (to an Orion woman) Secure the Bridge.

[Briefing room]

ARCHER: Who are you working with? I hope you're prepared to die.
T'POL: My death will change nothing. You will not prevail.
ARCHER: The Defiant will prevail. It's simply a matter of firepower.
T'POL: The Federation is our future.
ARCHER: You're mistaking our universe for someone else's.
T'POL: It may take centuries, but humanity will pay for its arrogance.

[USS Defiant]

(Phlox is about to do his sabotage when his communicator beeps.)
PHLOX: These interruptions aren't helping.
SOVAL [OC]: I need an estimate.
PHLOX: The inside of this panel

[ISS Avenger - Bridge]

PHLOX [OC]: Doesn't look anything like the schematic you gave me.
SOVAL: You need to remove the duotronic module.

[USS Defiant]

SOVAL [OC]: The relays are behind it.
PHLOX: I've removed the module.

[ISS Avenger - Bridge]

SOVAL: You have to disengage the flow regulators before you remove the relays

[USS Defiant]

SOVAL [OC]: Or the plasma will ignite.

[ISS Avenger - Bridge]

SOVAL: Someone's trying to override the Bridge lockouts. Doctor, you must hurry!

[USS Defiant - Bridge]

TRAVIS: The warp field's fluctuating.
TUCKER: It's a power drain. Primary EPS relays.
TRAVIS: I'll alert the Captain.
TUCKER: No. It's probably just a micro-fracture in the conduit. Do you really want to interrupt the Captain for that? I'll handle it. (to crewman) Take over.
CREWMAN: Yes, sir.

[Briefing room]

ARCHER: (to a MACO) Take a team aboard Avenger. Confine every alien on that ship.
HOSHI: There's no point in continuing. She's not going to talk. We should kill her.
ARCHER: You've been looking forward to that for a while, haven't you?
(There's a jolt as Phlox removes the flow regulators.)
ARCHER: Archer to the Bridge. Report!
TRAVIS: Main power's offline. We've dropped out of warp.

[ISS Avenger - Bridge]

SOVAL: Close to ten thousand metres. Target their primary hull.
(A barrage of torpedoes set off explosions.)

[USS Defiant]

PHLOX: Phlox to Soval. I'm finished here. Stand by to transport.
(But he gets jumped by Tucker instead.)
TUCKER: What the hell have you done?
(They wrestle.)

[Bridge]

ARCHER: I need weapons!
TRAVIS: Everything's offline.

[ISS Avenger - Bridge]

SOVAL: Continue firing.

[USS Defiant]

(Tucker knocks out Phlox and puts the flow regulators back.)

[Bridge]

(Archer has his head down as if he's crying.)
TRAVIS: Primary systems are coming back. We have shields.
ARCHER: Raise them!

[ISS Avenger - Bridge]

SOVAL: Soval to Phlox.

[USS Defiant]

SOVAL [OC]: Their power grid's being restored. What's happening? Doctor? Respond!

[Bridge]

TRAVIS: Weapons are online.
ARCHER: Destroy them!

[ISS Avenger - Bridge]

SOVAL: Get us out of their weapons range! Divert all power to hull plating!

[Bridge]

HOSHI: They've taken heavy damage.
TRAVIS: They're trying to escape.
ARCHER: Photon torpedoes. Lock on to their reactor.
(And the ISS Avenger falls apart in a ball of flame.)

[Captain's quarters]

(Hoshi and Archer are in bed, again.)
ARCHER: Before I forget, first thing tomorrow, I want you to erase the historical database. I don't want anyone else getting any ideas about this Federation of Planets.
HOSHI: We'll lose all the data on our counterparts.
ARCHER: Exactly.
HOSHI: It'll only take a day for the fleet to return to Earth. Do you think the commanders will support you?
ARCHER: They're loyal to the Emperor. They don't really care who it is. By the time the fleet arrives, the reign of Emperor Jonathan Archer will have already begun.
(He pours drink into his mouth.)
ARCHER: Once we put down the rebellion, I'll expand the Empire throughout, throughout
(He falls off the bed.)
HOSHI: Are you all right?
