BIOGRAPHY
Sir Patrick Stewart (born July 13, 1940) is a British actor, widely recognized for his distinguished work in theater, television, and film. Born in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, England, Stewart developed a passion for acting early in life. He left school at the age of 15 to pursue a career in acting, training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Stewart spent over two decades with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), where he honed his craft and became known for his powerful performances in classical roles, particularly in Shakespearean plays.
Stewart gained international fame for his portrayal of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1994), a role that would become iconic and synonymous with his name. His portrayal of the thoughtful, authoritative, and diplomatic starship captain endeared him to fans and helped revive the Star Trek franchise for a new generation. Stewart reprised the role in multiple films, including Star Trek: First Contact (1996), and later returned to the character in the series Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023).
